## Ingredients
- 4 to 6 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of white sugar (you can adjust to taste or use a mix of white and brown sugar for extra flavor)
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- Optional: 1/2 cup of rolled oats or chopped nuts for the topping
## Directions
1. **Preheat the Oven:** Set your oven to ==350°F== (175°C).
2. **Prepare the Apples:** Arrange the sliced apples in a lightly greased 9x9 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon if you like extra flavor.
3. **Make the Topping:** In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cold cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend the butter into the flour mixture until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. For a crunchier texture, mix in rolled oats or chopped nuts.
4. **Assemble:** Evenly spread the crumbly mixture over the apples in the baking dish.
5. **Bake:** Place in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are soft.
6. **Serve:** Enjoy it warm, maybe with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top.
